Traditional psychiatry focuses primarily on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders using medications and psychotherapy. The approach is largely biomedical, aiming to manage symptoms and correct biochemical imbalances.
Integrative psychiatry combines traditional psychiatric practices with complementary therapies using a holistic approach. This addresses the whole person, focusing on mind, body, and spirit to promote overall wellness. It seeks to identify root causes, not just symptom relief.
Traditional psychiatry views mental health disorders as primarily brain-based conditions influenced by genetics, neurochemistry, and psychological factors.
Integrative psychiatry acknowledges these factors but also emphasizes environmental, social, spiritual, and physical contributors to mental health. For example, stress, poor diet, trauma, and toxin exposure are seen as potential contributors.
Overall, by blending conventional and complementary approaches, integrative psychiatry aims to provide a more personalized and comprehensive path to mental wellness. This is especially important to those seeking alternatives to traditional medications or wanting a deeper understanding of their mental health.

We are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality, personalized care. To achieve this, we’ve chosen to work directly with our patients instead of contracting with insurance companies. We know this may feel like a significant decision for many families, so we’d like to explain why this approach benefits you:
1. More Time for Personalized Care: Working outside of the constraints of insurance allows us to spend more time understanding your unique health needs, identifying the root causes of symptoms, and developing truly personalized treatment plans. We prioritize your well-being, not the limitations set by insurance companies.
2. Freedom to Offer Comprehensive Care: By not billing insurance, we can use a wider range of treatments, including integrative & holistic options that are often not covered. This flexibility means you receive a complete approach to wellness, not just what insurance deems necessary.
3. Assistance with Reimbursement: While we do not bill insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. Therefore, we made the decision to partner with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions, instead of paying the full fee & then waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save 50% or more per session.
4. Commitment to Quality & Accessibility: Our care model allows us to focus on what’s best for you without administrative barriers. We offer a limited number of sliding scale fees to those with financial need to make care as accessible as possible.
We appreciate your trust in us to support you on your health journey.
If you have questions about this model or would like to discuss ways we can assist with insurance reimbursement, please feel free to reach out.
We are here to help!

Traditional Psychiatry
Traditional psychiatry addresses mental health by diagnosing various issues and managing them effectively with a combination of therapy and medication, tailored specifically to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances. These treatment plans may involve several different types of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or interpersonal therapy, which are designed to help explore and understand emotional and behavioral patterns deeply. Additionally, medications such as antidepressants and mood stabilizers can be prescribed to alleviate symptoms and significantly improve daily functioning and overall well-being. The overarching aim of traditional psychiatry is to restore balance and enhance quality of life for those facing mental health challenges, ultimately providing a supportive and nurturing environment for healing, understanding, and personal growth.

Integrative Psychiatry
Integrative psychiatry is a comprehensive and holistic mental health approach that thoughtfully combines traditional psychiatric treatments with a variety of additional methods to significantly enhance overall well-being. This innovative practice considers the whole person—mind, body, and lifestyle—rather than solely focusing on presenting symptoms. By addressing root causes of mental health issues, including factors such as diet, sleep patterns, physical activity, stress management, and gut health, it strategically employs natural supplements, nutritional advice, mindfulness practices, and meaningful lifestyle changes in conjunction with conventional treatments. The ultimate goal of this integrative approach is to promote balanced, sustainable mental, emotional, and psychological health for individuals seeking a better quality of life.

Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that looks at the root causes of health issues rather than just treating symptoms. Instead of focusing only on a specific illness or symptom, functional medicine takes into account the whole person—body, mind, and lifestyle.
The idea is that our health is affected by many factors, including diet, environment, genetics, stress, and exercise. Functional medicine practitioners work with patients to understand these factors and how they may be contributing to a health problem. For example, if someone is feeling constantly tired, a functional medicine provider would explore various possible causes, such as nutrient deficiencies, sleep patterns, or stress levels, rather than just prescribing medication for fatigue.
Treatment often involves personalized changes in lifestyle, nutrition, and sometimes supplements, to help the body heal itself and restore balance. The goal is to promote overall well-being and prevent future health issues by addressing the underlying causes.
